Our Initiatives
Three initiatives, one journey — we change the mind, then we educate the girl, then we help her earn a living.
Everything we do at Sneha Karma Foundation runs through three foundational initiatives. Social Change comes first, because without it the other two are built on sand: before a girl can stay in school or earn a living, her family and community must believe she is worth it. Girls’ Education then keeps her in school — safe, healthy and learning — and carries her on to college. Women’s Livelihood turns her education into a skill, a job and a dignified income of her own.
Each initiative is permanent and focused; each holds one or more programs that we start, grow, refine and, when the need changes, retire. The pages below explain each initiative and the programs within it.
INITIATIVE # 1 — THE FOUNDATION
Social Change
We change how families and communities see girls — because belief comes before everything.
Before a girl can learn, someone has to believe she is worth teaching. Our Social Change initiative works on the belief itself, holding education camps for parents and communities so that a daughter is seen as a future worth investing in, not a cost to be married away. It is the foundation on which our other initiatives stand.
INITIATIVE # 2
Girls’ Education
Keeping a girl in school — safe, healthy and learning — and carrying her all the way to college.
Girls’ Education is where a changed belief becomes a real chance. Through Support-A-Girl we cover the true costs of schooling — tuition, uniforms, books, a nourishing midday meal, care and mentorship. Through our Scholarship program we carry that support beyond school, into higher education, so a girl is never stopped by the cost of her next step.
INITIATIVE # 3
Women’s Livelihood
Turning education into a skill, a job and a dignified income she can call her own.
Women’s Livelihood is where learning becomes earning. Skills Development gives a young woman marketable, employable skills. Support-A-Artisan offers small loans that let artisans buy materials and grow a business. And Artisans Direct builds fair marketplaces where the things women make can be sold with dignity — so her work earns what it is worth.
