Girls’ Education

Keeping a girl in school — safe, healthy and learning — and carrying her all the way to college.

Once a family believes in their daughter’s future, she needs a real chance to build it. Girls’ Education is where that belief becomes a classroom, a uniform, a book and a meal — and, in time, a college degree.

Rural India loses far too many girls at predictable points: when money runs out, when the school is too far, when a marriage is arranged, when college feels out of reach. This focus area is designed to meet her at each of those points, and to make sure none of them ends her education.

What this focus area covers

We cover the true cost of a girl’s education — tuition, uniforms, books and stationery, a nourishing midday meal, safe accommodation where distance is a barrier, and regular healthcare. Each girl is paired with caring adults who watch over her progress, guide her choices and step in when she is at risk of being withdrawn.

And we stay with her as she grows. Support that ends at school leaves a girl at the very doorstep of her future; so where she is ready, our Scholarship program carries her into higher education, mentoring and coaching, until she can stand on her own.

Support-A-Girl

Support-A-Girl is our flagship program: it keeps a girl in school, year after year, until she can stand on her own. It covers the real costs of an education — tuition, uniforms, books and stationery, a nourishing midday meal, safe accommodation where distance is a barrier, and regular healthcare. Each girl is paired with caring mentors who watch over her progress and stand beside her family when pressure builds to withdraw her early or arrange her marriage. Because support must not stop at the school gate, it follows her through every grade, building the confidence, safety and stability she needs to keep learning.

Scholarship

The Scholarship program carries a girl beyond school into higher education — the step she is most likely to lose to cost. It funds college tuition and fees, accommodation and living support where studying means living far from home, and the books, materials and technology her course requires. Just as importantly, it provides mentoring and coaching: a steady adult who tracks her progress, guides her choices and helps her through the hard weeks, plus career guidance for interviews and a first job. A scholarship is the difference between a girl who watched her future close and a young woman who graduates into a career she chose.
