Where Every $50 Goes: How Your Donation Funds Girls' Education
A donation is a promise. When you give to Sneha Karma Foundation, you are trusting us with something that carries real consequences — a decision about whether a girl stays in school or is pulled out because money runs short. That trust deserves an answer, not a slogan.
This is that answer: a plain account of where your money goes, how we keep costs low, and what different gift sizes actually make possible.
What a gift actually pays for
Every donation to our girls' education work funds one of a small number of concrete things — the kind of costs that quietly decide whether a girl finishes her education:
- School fees and exam costs that a family cannot absorb.
- Books, uniforms and materials so a girl has what her classmates have.
- Safe accommodation where the nearest school is too far to reach daily.
- Meals and basic healthcare, because a hungry or unwell girl cannot learn.
- Mentoring and family engagement, the patient work that keeps a girl enrolled when pressure arrives.
How we keep costs low
We are a volunteer-led organization, and we treat overhead as a cost to be minimized, not indulged. Our board is unpaid, professional services are donated wherever possible, and we deliberately keep our running costs under 10% of revenue. The overwhelming majority of every rupee and dollar goes to programs.
You can see our financial posture, registration and accountability practices on our financials page.
What your gift makes possible
Sponsorship is deliberately simple:
- $50 — one-fifth of an annual sponsorship: roughly a term of school materials, uniform and exam fees.
- $250 — a full year of Support-A-Girl for one girl: tuition, books, uniform, safe accommodation, healthcare and mentoring.
- $1,250 — five years of sponsorship, carrying a girl from school into higher education or a trade.
These are shares of a real program cost, not fixed price tags — need varies by village — but they show what a modest gift can do.
Transparency as a practice, not a badge
Accountability is not something you earn once and frame. It is a habit: audited accounts, honest reporting on what worked and what didn't, and a refusal to overstate outcomes. When a program underperforms, we say so. When family circumstances pull a girl out despite our support, we record it.
That honesty is the point. A charity that only ever reports triumphs is not trustworthy — it is marketing.
