Raise Funds for Our Cause
Fundraising is another way to volunteer for us — and one of the most powerful. Whether you rally your friends, your office or your whole community, every rupee you raise keeps a girl in school, funds a scholarship, or helps a woman artisan build a livelihood. There are many ways to do it; below are the ones that work best, with a short guide for each. Choose what suits you — or invent your own idea and tell us, we are always happy to help you design it.
Social Media Platforms
Your own feed is one of the most powerful fundraising tools you already own. A single, honest post about a girl who is now back in school can reach friends you would never have asked in person — and in India, where keeping one girl in school can change a family's future, that reach matters.
Simple ways to raise money through social media:
- Birthday and anniversary fundraisers — instead of gifts, ask friends to give to Sneha Karma Foundation.
- Facebook and Instagram fundraisers — create a fundraiser, set a goal, and choose our cause.
- Share our stories — re-share posts about our work, from girls' education to our Garbhanga handloom centre, with a comment on why it matters to you.
- Follow and tag us so we can amplify your post to our own audience.
- Add a donate link to your bio or pinned post.
People give to people. A short, personal message — "I'm raising money to keep a girl in school, here's why" — outperforms a generic appeal every time. You do not need a big following; ten committed friends beat a thousand silent ones. We will give you the photos, the facts and the words; you bring your voice and your network. Keep it consistent too: post once at launch and once near the end rather than every day — a single story told well beats a stream of reminders. See the full list of social platforms.
Online Fundraisers
Online fundraising platforms let you set up a giving page in minutes and share it with anyone, anywhere — whether you are in Mumbai, Guwahati, or part of the diaspora in the US or UK. Pick a platform you already use, or ask us which suits your goal.
How to run one well:
- Set a clear, specific goal — for example, "₹50,000 to keep two girls in school for a year" — rather than a vague amount.
- Tell one story: a named need, a real community, a girl's ambition. Specificity moves people.
- Say exactly where the money goes — school fees, materials, a hostel place, or vocational training.
- Add a photo or a short video, and keep the tone warm, not formal.
- Update your page as you go — a thank-you at 50% often unlocks the next 50%.
- Link to our donate page so every gift is processed securely.
Big occasions — a birthday, a marathon, a festival, even a wedding — are natural moments to launch an online fundraiser. Announce it once, then nudge gently with updates rather than repeated asks. Many employers also match charitable giving, so ask your friends whether their company will double their gift — it is free money for the cause. Every contribution is tax-deductible where applicable (we are a 501(c)(3) in the US and 80G-registered in India), and we can provide receipts and campaign content to make it effortless. Group Meetings
Sometimes the most effective fundraiser is one of the oldest: getting people in a room. A dinner with friends, a session at your office, a college club meet-up or a neighbourhood gathering can raise both money and lifelong supporters.
How to host one:
- Choose a small, committed audience — eight to twenty people is plenty.
- Open with why you care. Share one story from our work, not a lecture.
- Explain simply what a gift achieves — keeping a girl in school, funding a scholarship, or helping a woman artisan earn.
- Present a specific ask — a suggested amount per person — rather than an open appeal.
- Make giving easy with a QR code to our donate page, an envelope, or a collected pledge.
- Close with a next step — volunteering, subscribing, or hosting their own gathering.
If you work for a company, a short session with colleagues can grow into a CSR conversation or a payroll-giving idea, and we are happy to join virtually or in person to answer questions. Group meetings work because trust travels through people you already know. One enthusiastic host, a clear goal and a generous room can fund an entire village's schooling. A simple venue, a warm snack and a clear ask are all you need; the setting matters far less than the sincerity of the invitation. We will provide the story, the numbers and the slides; you convene the circle and light the spark. Host a group meeting.
Public Events
Public events turn a cause into something people can feel — and they raise money while raising awareness. Run a 5K, hold a quiz night, stage a cultural evening, organise a school fete, or set up a stall at a local festival, and make Sneha Karma Foundation the reason.
How to make it count:
- Pick something you would enjoy organising — enthusiasm is contagious.
- Set clear goals for both money raised and awareness built.
- Promote early with posters, WhatsApp groups and social media; invite local businesses to sponsor or donate prizes.
- Explain the cause on the day with a simple banner and a short talk: "we keep girls in school in India".
- Make giving easy — QR codes, donation jars, and a donate link on every flyer.
- Involve schools, colleges, clubs and corporates; students often make the best fundraising teams.
- Let us help with photos, a story, our logo and certificates for participants.
From a charity bake sale to a sponsored walk, the format matters less than the intention behind it. Public events also bring in supporters who had never heard of us — turning one afternoon into a community. Do check any local permissions for public spaces, and keep water and a first-aid kit on hand for active events like runs or walks. Tell us your idea and we will help you plan it, promote it, and thank everyone who takes part. Plan a public event.
